BLOG ARCHIVES 2011
Well, another year is closing and a new one soon beginning - and this gives us an opportunity to look back on all the great things we did in 2011, and to cherish all our friends, young and old, near and far.
May you all have peace and contentment in 2012 - we will be thinking of you at this special time!
Singing yesterday at the wonderful Grand Parade Christmas Market in Cork. Think we raised a good bit of money for 'The Simon Community' during our marathon sing of 80 minutes non-stop!! It was a lovely bright afternoon and the punters seemed genuinely pleased with our performance!
Then it was off for a warming hot chocolate, and a walk round the winter wonderland to see the beautiful Christmas lights!!4.12.2011Pam said:I think congratulations are due to Liz N on becoming chairperson of IABS recently. We are sure she will bring enormous energy and creativity to the job and look forward to all the IABS news too!

We have just returned from the Sunday Christmas Festival at Curraheen. It was a wonderful experience to be part of this event and great to see other performers too. There were so many choirs, and the vistors were so many that parking became a problem - but the singing was tremendous - especially the massed singing at the end!! Cork now has a wonderful building for the care of its elderly, and it was a pleasure to be a part of this special day.
It was also a treat to see the most incredible Christmas tree, lit with millions of white lights and a red star atop the tree, as we left the grounds. Well done to all who made it such a meaningful event and a wonderful afternoon!
Pam said:On Sunday afternoon next, CC will be singing at the new 'state of the art' hospice centre in Cork. It is a very prestigious event as many people will be coming to celebrate, and we are delighted to have been invited to sing. We will be singing our Lion King medley, and also hope to sing some old favourites and some new Christmas numbers too!
Also, just wanted to wish Helen & her husband all the best as they journey to France tomorrow - just in time before the Irish budget and all the new taxes!! Hope all goes to plan. We wish you both a safe journey and we look forward to hearing all your news soon - but not in french!
Pam said:Bit sad last night as it was the last rehearsal where Helen Clarence will be present. We enjoyed the chocolates, and the drink in the bar, but we will sadly miss your wonderful spirit and generosity to the group! Every time I wear my Champagne Cork shirt I will think of you, Helen!Have a safe journey on your next adventure, and a wonderful new life in France!!
Pam said:Last of Gareth Malone's Military Wives Choir tonight.BBC2, 9pm. Bet the 'grand finale' will be a tear jerker - but worth watching as the music will be brilliant.

Helen E is already enjoying her trip in America, & Liz N will soon be jetting off to see her family in Perth, Australia for a few weeks.Hope you have a safe journey, lots of sunshine and a wonderful time, ladies!
